This was Rudy's only loss in this month's tourney. It was in the 1st Round and he drops a piece early and everything falls apart for him. He did go on to win his other 2 games!

Did Fischer Play The London System?
Not exactly! This game transposed to "The London" via the Exchange Caro-Kann! This game was played in the USSR vs. the World match. GM Bobby Fischer played board 2 vs GM Tigran Petrosian. GM Bent Larsen played board 1 for the World Team vs. World Champion GM Boris Spassky.

Stefanova Plays The London System!

Former Women's World Champion GM Antoaneta Stefanova of Bulgaria played the London System yesterday in Round 8 of the FIDE Women's Grand Prix in Doha, Qatar. She played GM Marie Sebag of France. The game ended in a draw, but it was by no means dull. It was a fighting endgame that you will find educational! The offical tournament website is located here.

A London System Victory!
Carl Schlechter Came Within A Whisker Of Winning The Title!

Carl Schlecter was born March 2, 1874 in Vienna, Austria.
In 1910 he played Emanual Lasker for the Chess World Championship.
Going into the final game of the match he was leading by a point, but blundered and lost. The tied match 5-5 (+1-1=8) meant that Lasker retained the title!
